Evolving Landscapes

New WYAP project is launched!

Your chance to explore Wiltshire's diverse landscape

On 17th March 2008, artists and youth workers from across Wiltshire gathered at the Salisbury Museum to launch the NEW Evolving Landscapes project.

Evolving Landscapes is a six month heritage and multi-arts project for young people aged 13-21 years that aims to take advantage of Wiltshire's incredible heritage sites and history. It will allow groups of young people to explore their roots and the amazing surroundings.

The project is a partnership between English Heritage, WIltshire Wildlife Trust, Salisbury Museum, Wiltshire Youth Arts Partnership and Wiltshire Youth Development Service.

Drama Xpress

Drama Xpress - another exciting WYAP project!

DramaXpress is a county wide drama project that was launched in April 2007. The project is coordinated by WYAP in partnership with Salisbury Playhouse and The Pound Arts Centre, Corsham.  It is funded by the Wiltshire Young People's Opportunity Fund and Wiltshire teenage Pregnancy Unit.

A final event called Theatre Rocks will showcase the work devised by all the young participants and will be held on Sunday 27th April 2008 and Sunday 4th May 2008. For more information click here

 

Young Arts Leaders Group

An exciting new young arts leaderss project where YOU get to have YOUR say!

This new project is developed from the successful Most Wanted project, and is designed to give arts leadership training in event planning, fund raising and arts assessing. This project is an opportunity for young people to say what they think about arts in Wiltshire.

What is WYAP?

Young people - that is who WYAP is here for!Wiltshire Youth Arts Partnership is an active working partnership between Kennet, North Wiltshire, Salisbury and West Wiltshire District Council, Wiltshire County Council Youth Development Service and Arts Council England, South West for over four years. It has employed a full-time Youth Arts Co-ordinator since June 2002 and has recently expanded its team to include an Arts Administration and Information Officer.

Since 2002, WYAP has increased both the range and number of youth arts opportunities accessible to young people aged 13 to 21 years. For more information on WYAP, and to access our policy statement, click here.

Arts Award

Arts Award - your chance to gain a qualification in the arts

The Arts Award is a new accredited programme, which recognises your development as a young artist and arts leader and is awarded at Bronze, Silver and Gold levels. It is aimed at 11-25 year olds. Is that you?

Are you a teacher, artist or youth worker that would like to train to become an adviser to support young people through their Arts Award? If you have three years experience of working with young people in the Arts, and are at least 20 years of age, WYAP can train you. Click here for more information.

 

Arts & Education

Wiltshire has launched a new Arts & Education Initiative, which links Wiltshire County Council to the Arts Council England, South West. Together they will be able to provide a complete service to teachers, youth organisations, parents, carers, young people and artists. For more information and useful contacts, click here.

This website allows schools and youth organisations to find local approved artists to work with young people through the Artists Database, which since its launch in Autumn 2007, goes from strength to strength and is proving to an excellent resource for all. To view the Database, click here.

Roots 'n' Motion

Wiltshire County Council Youth Development service has now launched a new inspiring dance project across the county. Dance workshops are now running throughout Wiltshire.

To ensure the success of this project, and continue to build on the excellent reputation of youth dance in Wiltshire, newly appointed Youth Dance Animateur, Louise Forster, is coordinating the project, supported by experienced and energetic dance teachers.
